Air Transport Auxiliary

The War Room

'The ATTA Girls'

The Air Transport Auxiliary' was  a civilian organisation established at the start of 'World War Two.'

The ATA ferried Aircraft to factories, maintenance points, and active squadrons' airfields. They also flew service personnel on urgent duty from one place to another and performed some 'Ambulance Work' too.

The ATA allowed  'Female Pilots' to ferry aircraft, this

is very special and is 'Aviation History'.

The female Pilots were nicknamed 'The ATTA Girls'.(Spelled with two Ts)

'The WASPs'

'The Women's Air Service Pilots' or 'WASPs' was a 'Civilian Organisation'. (It was also known as The Women's  Army Service Pilots' or 'Women's Auxiliary  Service  Pilots'.)

The WASPS became trained Pilots, they tested and ferried aircraft, and trained other pilots. The purpose was to free male pilots for important 'Combat Duties' during 'World War Two'.
